South Texas country artist George Masso, along with his band The Texas Outlaws, has been captivating audiences with his authentic Texas Country sound since the late ‘80s. After college, he took his passion for music to Nashville in the mid-to-late ‘90s, where he refined his sound—blending the storytelling of Hank Williams Jr. and Merle Haggard with the polished yet heartfelt style of George Strait. His music incorporates the best of both worlds: the raw, down-home feel of Texas Country with a Nashville flair, reminiscent of the era when fiddle-driven melodies ruled the charts.
George built his career performing in lodges and steadily expanding his fanbase, which eventually led to opportunities to open for country acts such as Thompson Square, Greg Bates, and Jackson Taylor & The Sinners. A defining moment in his career came in 2009 when a radio station invited him to open for Thompson Square, setting the stage for his full-time commitment to music. His live performances, alongside The Texas Outlaws, are known for their high-energy atmosphere and crowd engagement, ensuring that fans not only hear the music but become part of the experience.
George’s songwriting is deeply personal, drawing from real-life experiences and observations. Whether crafting ballads or up-tempo anthems, he ensures each song resonates with authenticity. One standout track, “The Gordina Shuffle”, is a playful yet heartfelt tribute to a pet potbelly pig that followed him everywhere. Another fan favorite, "Cowgirls Are a Sight to See", is an upbeat tribute to the rodeo culture and the undeniable charm of cowgirls, often requested during live shows.
Looking ahead, George Masso & The Texas Outlaws are focused on pushing more music to radio, climbing the charts, and recording fresh material for their next studio project. They also have plans for a mini tour, aiming to connect even more deeply with their growing fanbase. Their message to fans remains simple: they strive to make every show feel like home, where everyone is part of the music and the memories. Whether on stage or in the studio, George Masso & The Texas Outlaws continue to carry the torch for traditional country, keeping its spirit alive for new generations to enjoy.
